Many people are familiar with the benefits of credit card reward programs, but they could be overlooking additional perks that come with a rewards program. Some of the most valuable perks include cell phone protection and auto rental collision damage waiver — and to be able to use these perks, the only thing you typically need to do is make a payment with an eligible credit card.
With this in mind, you should consider these four credit card perks that come with your Zions Bank card.
1. Cell phone protection
Cell phones are now a daily necessity for almost everyone. If your cell phone is damaged or stolen, you’ll want to repair or replace your device — but this can be expensive if you don’t have cell phone insurance. Luckily, Zions Bank consumer credit card holders are eligible for cell phone protection.
If you’re paying separately for cell phone insurance, this credit card perk could help you cut back on your monthly expenses. To qualify, you ’ll need to pay your monthly cellular wireless bill payment with an eligible card. It’s a great benefit that helps cut back on the costs of repairing or replacing a phone.
If something happens to your phone, it’s important to submit a claim in a timely manner. Some cell phone benefits require a claim to be filed within 60 days of the date of the damage or theft and a police report to be filed within 48 hours of the theft of a cell phone.
2. Extended warranty protection
Many consumers feel it’s all too common for an appliance or item to break shortly after the warranty expires. But if you make the purchase using an eligible Zions Bank credit card, you’ll receive extended warranty protection.
When you use an eligible Zions Bank credit card to purchase an eligible item that carries a U.S. manufacturer’s warranty, you can register your product at Card Benefit Services. Remember to save your sales receipt and warranty information for future reference, but once registered, it allows you to tap into the valuable benefit of extended warranties through the use of your credit card.
You could double your coverage on eligible U.S. warranties of 3 years or less, up to a maximum of 1 additional year of warranty. For example, a warranty for 6 months would receive an additional 6 months of coverage, but if the warranty is for 3 years, you would receive a combined total of 4 years of coverage.
3. Auto rental collision damage waiver
It can be costly to repair or replace a rented car, but if you use an eligible Zions Bank credit card to complete your entire rental transaction, you can be covered with auto rental collision damage waiver in the event of theft or damage.
Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver can reimburse you for damages caused by theft or collision, up the cash value of most rented cars.
To leverage the auto rental collision damage waiver credit card benefit, you need to complete your entire car rental transaction with an eligible credit card and decline the rental company’s collision damage waiver, as accepting this coverage will negate your card benefit.
After making the transaction with an eligible credit card, it’s important to make sure you meet other requirements of the damage waiver. For example, only the primary car renter and any additional drivers permitted by the rental car agreement are covered. Rental periods of 15 consecutive days within your country of residence and 31 consecutive days outside your country are covered — which should be more than enough time for most travelers.
4. Lost luggage reimbursement
Lost luggage is a common horror story for travelers. But if you’ve paid for the cost of your flights with an eligible Zions Bank card, you and your immediate family members may receive the lost luggage reimbursement credit card perk.
Although airlines must compensate you if your bags are lost or stolen, it’s helpful to have supplemental coverage if the airline does not cover your entire loss. Lost luggage reimbursement can reimburse you for the difference between the value of the amount claimed and the carrier’s payment — up to a maximum of $3,000 per covered trip.
